2006 Global Grant Competition for Full-time Faculty and Academic Staff

The Office of International Programs at Wayne State University is pleased to announce that President Reid has again provided funds to encourage and support international activity at Wayne State University. This year’s competition will build on prior efforts to internationalize the campus and curriculum.

The award committee will give priority to proposals that address the following areas:

  • International curriculum initiatives.
  • Exchange programs and study abroad initiatives.
  • International research and/or faculty exchanges.
  • Recruitment of international students to Wayne State University.
  • Outreach activities and off-campus programs with an international dimension.
  • Supplemental assistance for faculty attending an international conference where he or she is delivering a paper.

Examples of the above priorities could include the creation and/or enhancement of WSU international course offerings; the organization of internationally themed conferences; and the development of opportunities for international internships, field experiences, and study-research trips. Proposals must have a substantial educational component and demonstrable results/impact on WSU student educational experiences.Proposals focused only on research or conference travel are not eligible.

Funding is intended for use during a period of time ending September 30, 2006. Awards are estimated to range from $500 to $6000. Applications must be received and date-stamped in the Office of the Provost on or before Friday, March 10, 2006. Please submit an original application plus six copies to The Office of International Programs, Office of the Provost, 4099 F/AB. Late applications will not be accepted. Award notification will occur on or around March 24, 2005.

Only full-time faculty and academic staff at Wayne State University are eligible to apply. The appropriate chair or director and dean must approve each application. No more than one award application per person may be made for this year's competition. Applicants must agree to submit a report of their activities within three months of completion. Awards are not transferable. Unexpended funds must be returned to the Office of International Programs.
