Ghana: African Cities
  • Summer Break: July 15, 2018 - August 15, 2018
  • Students will travel to Ghana for one month.
  • This program explores the emergence of cities in sub-Saharan Africa, and traces major themes in the history of urban Africa.

China: Business at Shanghai University, Sydney Institute of Language and Commerce
China: Global Business Experience
  • Program 1: May 5 - 19, 2018 (Summer Break)
  • Program 2: May 5 - 27, 2018 (Summer Break)
  • This program travels to Beijing, Shanghai and Wuhan.
  • Participants will take part in plant tours and lectures at various companies like GM, Ford and Remy.
  • This program is open to undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Students are able to take 3 credits in various Business courses.
  • Students may also choose to take an additional 2-week purchasing class in Wuhan.

China: Global Engineering Experience - Cross-Disciplinary Global Engineering Program at ZJUT
  • Four week summer program focusing on global engineering, cross-cultural, cross-disciplinary and team-based creative engineering problem solving
  • Target levels are sophomore to 1st year M.S. engineering students (all engineering majors)
  • Tri-continental (U.S., China, and Scotland) global engineering program with focus to promote social responsibility, creativity, leadership, and problem-solving skills through solutions of real-world engineering problems with global impacts
  • Students will also attend free-of-charge language/cultural classes (courtesy of ZJUT)
  • Free room and board at ZJUT
  • WSU Course to register: 4 credit EGR 5995 - Special topic: Cross-cultural global engineering and problem solving. No special prerequisite required. Satisfies technical or directed elective towards graduation in respective engineering major.

  • Six week summer program focusing on engineering
  • Open to undergraduate and graduate students of WSU College of Engineering
  • Students will do on-site field research while improving their Chinese language skills

China: Physiologic Signal Processing for Human Computer Interface
  • This is a six-week summer program traveling to Xi'an, Shanxi, China
  • Courses offered: BME 5995 and EGR 5995
  • The program is open to junior and senior level undergraduate and graduate students. 
  • The course will be taught in Xi'an Jiaotong University in Xi'an, China. Students will learn hands-on technologies for human mind machine interaction during laboratory experiments.

  • This semester long program is open to students of Junior/Senior Standing majoring in Computer Science with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Provides diversified academic and research programs in a variety of scientific and technological fields

France: University Francois-Rabelais Exchange
  • Students attend the University Francois-Rabelais in Tours, France
  • This exchange program allows students who are fluent in French to take classes in any Liberal Arts and Sciences discipline
  • Students from any Wayne State college or school are eligible to apply provided their plans are approved by the department where they expect to earn their degrees
  • The exchange can last either one or two semesters, although students strongly are urged to consider staying for two semesters is possible

Germany: Junior Year in Munich
  • Junior Year in Munich is America’s oldest academic year abroad program in Germany.
  • Coursework completed in Munich counts towards WSU degree requirements.
  • Open to all majors for students with 2 years of German Language with a B average.

Italy: English Language Teaching Assistantship in the Lombardy Region, Italy
  • This program is a non-credit teaching assistanship.
  • This program is open to undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.25 to apply.
  • Motivation and character of the applicant are crucial. The candidate must have excellent communication skills, flexibility, independence, self-training and self-study skills, and willingness and ability to step out of her/his comfort zone.

Mexican Culture and Politics: An Applied Field Research Course
  • Student will take a 3 credit PS 5999: Special Topics: Mexico/Applied Field Research
  • Participants will be traveling to Mexico City and Oaxaca.
