Egypt: Arabic Language at the American University in Cairo
  • Study in Cairo for 7 weeks during the summer.
  • Participate in an intensive Arabic language and culture program at the American University in Cairo. 
  • Open to undergraduates and graduates.

Ghana: Explorations in Medicine and Culture in Western Africa
  • Students spend 3 weeks during the summer in Ghana
  • While there, students will study the complex medical and traditional ways of healing.

Liberia: African Democracy Project
  • This program is no longer accepting applications
  • Please contact The Irvin D. Reid Honors College for the current version of the African Democracy Project
  • Students will gain extensive, specialized knowledge of the challenges of democratization in the developing world of Africa, and specifically, in Liberia
  • Students will develop an original research project, learn about the ethics of research involving human subjects, and conduct hands-on research in the field
  • Students will hone their public presentation skills by sharing their experiences and the results of their research with the class, the university and the greater WSU community
  • Students will practice collaborative learning and build their teamwork skills.
  • Last but not least, it is our hope that this course will plant the seed of a lifelong interest in Africa and a deeper understanding of connections between Liberia and the United States among the students and faculty in this course

France: Semester at EurAm Abbey, France
  • Students participate in an undergraduate semester at EurAm Abbey in the Loire Valley, France. 
  • All undergrads who have completed at least 14 semester hours at Wayne State University with an overall 2.0 GPA are eligible to apply.
  • Prior knowledge of French is not necessary. All courses are taught in English (with the exception of French language classes).
  • Courses available include History, Art, Literature, Political Science, Geography, Sociology, Economics and French.
France: Undergraduate Computer Science Exchange Program in France
  • This semester long program is open to students of Junior Standing majoring in Computer Science
  • Provides diversified academic and research programs in a variety of scientific and technological fields
  • More than 1,200 undergraduate and graduate students study on two campuses
  • students have access to the resources of the 15 schools (Grande Ecole), including 2,200 researchers and 200 research laboratories

France: University Francois-Rabelais Exchange
  • Students attend the University Francois-Rabelais in Tours, France
  • This exchange program allows students who are fluent in French to take classes in any Liberal Arts and Sciences discipline
  • Students from any Wayne State college or school are eligible to apply provided their plans are approved by the department where they expect to earn their degrees

Lebanon: Arabic Language and Culture at the Lebanese American University
  • This program is located at the Lebanese American University in Beirut, Lebanon.
  • Participants will study Arabic language at SINARC
  • The Program is commonly called SINARC, standing for the Summer Institute for Intensive Arabic Language and Culture.  In recent years the program has expanded to all seasons.  The name stuck due to familiarity and is still known as SINARC
  • Students will have an option to study Intermediate and Advanced Arabic language and culture for 15-weeks
