The International Summer School program at the University of Seoul (UOS) was first established in 2000, and it has provided international students with a great opportunity to learn about Korean culture and tradition. Reorganized in 2005, the ISS has been receiving an increased amount of funding from the Seoul Metropolitan Government and offers various incentives to the participants coming from not only the partner universities but also many prestigious universities over the world.
Students from any Wayne State college or school are eligible to apply provided their plans are approved by the department where they expect to earn their degrees.
During the Fall and Winter Semesters, WSU students take classes in English (with the exception of language courses) in the following subject areas:
Korean Language and Culture, International Relations, Economics, Urban Sociology, Business Administration, materials Science and Engineering, English Language and Literature, Urban Engineering, Physics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Korean History, Chinese Language and History. During the Summer Semester, WSU students take classes in English (with the exception of language courses) in the following subject areas:
Asian Studies, History, Art, Political Science, International Studies, Urban Economics & Policy, Climate Change and Cities, and International Urban Development and Korean Language.
Other subject areas and courses may be available to students who are fluent in Korean.
The exchange can last either one or two semesters, although students strongly are urged to consider staying for two semesters if possible.
