Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) was jointly established by Chinese Academy of Science and Shenzhen municipal government 2006. SIAT is composed of the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Integration Technology (SIAIT), the Institute of Biomedical and Health Engineering (IBHE), the Institute of Advanced Computing and Digital Engineering (IACDE), the Institute of Biomedicine and Biotechnology (IBB), and the Guangzhou Institutes of Advanced Technology (GIAT). The institutes feature a wide range of highly advanced resources for Wayne State University students, such as an open technology platform, engineering center, incubation center, CAS Electric Vehicle R&D center, CAS key laboratory for biomedical informatics and health engineering.
Students will have an opportunity to conduct research in various fields; Digital Signal Processing, Data Mining, Computer Graphics, Intelligence Control, Image Processing, High Performance Computing, Embedded System, Multivariate Statistical Analysis, and Pattern Recognition.
The institutes are located in Shenzhen in the Guangdong Province, on the eastern shore of the Pearl River Delta. Neighboring the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong, Shenzhen's location gives it a geographical advantage for economic development. In 1980, the first Special Economic Zone of China was built in this city. From then on, the city became a highlight of China, one known for its rapid economic growth.
