Spring/Summer 2017: May 14 - May 27, 2017
Join the Mike Ilitch School of Business for a study abroad program trip to Northern, Central, and Southern Italy. This is an educational experience of a lifetime! The course, which includes readings, business tours, lectures, and cultural experiences, will feature Italian companies that are either headquartered, or have a major presence, in Southeast Michigan. The group will spend twelve days between Turin, Rome, and Naples.
Students will visit businesses and cultural locations as a group, and also have time to explore on their own. In Turin, students will have a chance to explore northern Italy's business and cultural center with highlights such as the Palace of Venaria, the Automobile Museum, and the Ancient Egyptian Museum. Students will tour Fiat Chrysler European Headquarters, Maserati assembly plant, Mopar parts wearhouse and Comau robotics assembly plant. The students stay in a small, charming Italian hotel owned by a local family. The group will take a bullet train to Rome, where they will tour historic locations such as the Vatican, the Coliseum, the Forum, and many other world famous places. Again, a bullet train will carry the group to Naples, where students visit the Fiat Chrysler Panda Plant - a World Class Manufacturing facility, a Lear Corporation production plant, a Fiat Chrysler Engine Plant, and Naples' Container Shipping port. Cultural experiences include a tour of Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast, and the Isle of Capri.
