This travel/study program gives students hands-on experience of China life in general and in particular of the poverty-stricken countryside. Students will be given the opportunity to teach English to students and teachers in rural areas in an effort to alleviate povert y through education.
Upon completing this course, students will be better able to think globally, and to perceive their own lives from an introspective angle, eventually learning how they can help make a change.

Students will be required to pay $500 to cover some in-country costs (food, transportation, accomodations), visa fees, international health insurance and administrative fees.
Additional costs will be paid by the Wang Foundation.
Airfare will be approximately $1900. In the past, students have had all or partial airfare expenses covered through funds raised from outside donors. Although this is not guaranteed for this year's program, program directors will attempt to raise as much as possible to offset student costs.
In addition to program costs, students will pay current published fees to WSU for credit hours at the appropriate level through the normal tuition payment process. Students with questions regarding the tuition and fee assessment rate may contact Registration and Scheduling at (313) 577-3541 or view: http://www.classschedule.wayne.edu/course_web/schedule/index.cfm.
