Reduced-rate international health insurance is available for both participants of our programs and non-participants who are WSU faculty, staff or students.
WSU faculty, staff and students involved in international travel not associated with a WSU sponsored overseas travel program are able to purchase international travel insurance at a reduced rate through our office. The insurance is provided through GeoBlue Worldwide Health Insurance for Higher Education, a global leader in International Health Insurance.
Overseas health insurance coverage is required for all participants of WSU faculty-led Study Abroad programs. For most programs the Office of Study Abroad and Global Programs will enroll students and faculty members in an international travel health insurance plan through GeoBlue Worldwide Health Insurance for Higher Education. The cost for this coverage is normally included in the program fees. Exceptions occur, therefore, you should refer to the specific program page for clarification.
Once you have received your insurance card, we encourage you to check out the amazing resources on their website: https://geobluestudents.com. (You will need your insurance card in order to login.) You can use this site to find out how to say medical phrases in the language of your destination, as well as schedule appointments with doctors, view local health and safety information, and personalize the site to your interests.
Please note that program coverage is effective only while overseas. Coverage is not provided for international participants while returning to their home country. It is important to retain your US health insurance during international travel periods in the event of medical evacuation.
