Fulbright Scholarship Program
Created in 1946 to promote "mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries around the world,” the Fulbright Program currently awards approximately 1,000 grants annually to U.S. students and operates in over 140 countries worldwide.

The U.S. Student Program was created to give recent BS/BA graduates, professionals, and artists opportunities for personal development and international experience. Projects are self-designed and may include university coursework, independent library or field research, classes in a music conservatory or art school, special projects in the social or life sciences, or a combination. The Fulbright Program offers invaluable opportunities to meet and work with people of the host country while sharing in their daily lives.

The competition for Fulbright Awards for the 2007-2008 academic year opens May 1, 2006. For more information, applicants should visit the Fulbright U.S. Student Program Webiste at www.iie.org/fulbright. Students currently enrolled at Wayne State University should contact the campus Fulbright Program advisor Kelli Pugh at (313) 577-3207 or ab6179@wayne.edu for further information. Applications must be submitted in full to Kelli Pugh by the campus closing date of October 2, 2006 in order to be received by IIE by the October 20, 2006 national deadline.
