China: Global Business Experience

Program 2: May 5 - May 27, 2018

These programs are a fast-paced "deep dive" into business in one of the world's biggest and fastest growing economies. The courses include meetings with domestic and international companies, tours of corporate manufacturing and distribution facilities, visits to consumer marketing organizations, interaction with business, government and academic professionals and tours of cultural and historic sites including the Great Wall, Forbidden City and other important sites.
Program 2 also includes the option for participants to continue their experience abroad by staying in China from May 19 - 27 for a purchasing class taught by Dr. Yan from WSU School of Business. Students will be taking classes in Wuhan.
Program 1: May 5- May 19, 2018
Cost: $1,462 excludes airfare and tuition; two payments of $500 due January 26, 2018 and February 23, 2018
Program 2: May 5 - May 27, 2018
Cost: $1,892 excludes airfare and tuition; two payments of $700 due January 26, 2018 and February 23, 2018
In-country transportation, some meals, accommodations, international health insurance, Chinese Visa and Processing.
Roundtrip airfare, personal expenses, passport processing fees, and tuition are also not included in the final cost.
A deposit is due within 14 days of acceptance. The remaining balance is due in two equal payments, depending on which program students select.
In addition to program cost, students will pay current published fees to WSU for 3-6 credit hours at the appropriate level through the normal tuition payment process. The Office of Study Abroad and Global Programs reserves the right to cancel this program, revise its offerings, or to make any adjustments to the preliminary cost estimates due to conditions beyond its control.
Passport and Visa:
In order to travel to China, you will need a passport which is valid for 6 months after your return date. As a student, you will also need a visa to China. Academic Focus: Business
Once accepted into the program, the students will take one or more of the below courses correspondent to their program duration:
Program 1: May 5 - 19, 2018
Course: Select 1 course (GSC 4991, MKT4991, or Directed Study in Major 4990)
Program 1 & 2: May 5- 27, 2018
Courses: GSC 4991 OR MKT 4991 OR Directed Study AND GSC 5650 or GSC 7650 for a total of 6 credits
Prerequisites and Eligibility:
Undergraduate and graduate Wayne State University School of Business students are eligible to participate as well students from other universities and colleges interested in receiving college level credits. Selection of applicants is done on a rolling basis; students are evaluated and considered for admission throughout the academic year. You will be notified of your acceptance status by the Study Abroad Programs Office. If you wish to participate, you will be required to sign and return the Decision Form and Waiver and Release Statement to accept the terms of the program and secure your place.

What happens next?
After you submit your application, transcript, and $50 application fee, we will forward it to the program director (usually the professor leading the program) who makes the final admissions decision. Each program has a slightly different set of criteria. If anything else is required, someone will contact you. After we receive the decision, we will send you a letter informing you of the outcome. If you are admitted, you will have 2 weeks to accept your place and pay your non-refundable deposit.
All correspondence and acceptance will be made by our office via email. Be sure to list an email address that you regularly check on your application. It is your responsibility to make sure you are receiving pertinent documents. If you are worried that your email account is rejecting our email, please contact our office immediately.
